Aria Rising                                      .

She began as a broken mannequin and a pile of trash and from these discarded pieces she became a symbol of hope. Inspired by the work of Angel Band Project that uses music as therapy for victims of intimate and sexual abuse and to raise awareness and empathy within the greater community. Viewers are invited to fill her empty bottles with messages of hope and understanding transforming her just as we transform each other with our interactions and words.

Messages of Hope

We are changed by the words we hear.

Aria invites her viewers to write messages of hope and place them in the vessels in her gown.

In this way the viewer becomes a part of the healing community and an advocate for the surviors.

From spring 2016:Introducing "Aria Rising"
Mannequin 2016!

In a surprising turn of events, our merchant partner, "Angel Band Project" fell in love with our mannequin and wanted to buy it and use it at many of their future events! Because of this development we withdrew from Mannequins on the Loop 2016 and are very excited about the future of "Aria Rising."
Angel Band Project is a national charity that uses music therapy in the support of victims of domestic and sexual abuse. "Aria Rising" is made entirely of recycled and repurposed materials most notably aluminum blinds and white plastic tubes. Though she has no arms, her wings, prominent and beautiful, give her a presence of strength and stability. Evident in the patterns and texture of the dress she seems to be swirling and rising, about to take flight. The use of recycled materials brings beauty out of abandonment and brokenness as it reflects also the process of healing and of hope.

I look forward to sharing more pictures with you as she participates in many events in the future!
