S. Jewell S. McGhee is a community artist who uses diverse mediums to reach diverse communities. She has worked extensively with repurposed materials, colored pencils, and acrylics. Best known in Maplewood for her “Words into Dreams” Marie Antoinette book sculpture, she has worked with various Maplewood and St. Louis community partners. Her recent works have been commissioned by the Regional Arts Commission and historic 1st Congregational church of Webster Groves, and on tour with Angel Band Project. As Project Coordinator of The Justice Fleet, she presented an interactive exhibit at the Pultizer titled, “Imagining St. Louis Futures with the Justice Fleet,” as a part of “Dwell with Other Futures.”
