Have you ever felt the wind whisper of God’s goodness or care? Have you ever heard the waves speak of God’s faithfulness? Have you ever seen a sunset rejoice across the sky?
Psalm 19 tells us, "The heavens declare the glory of God. The skies proclaim the work of his hands…there is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. There voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world."
Creation’s creator was born. When the infinite became finite, how did the finite respond?
John 1 says, "Through him all things were made and without him nothing was made that had been made."
Was there a crescendo in creation’s song? Did the waves crash like cymbals; the trees rustle minuets; the birds, fish, mammals, reptiles and amphibians sing out a quintet, joining in as the stars and sky sang with the angel’s hallelujah chorus?
What joy!
Moreover, it wasn’t simply one night of joy; no, it was a sunrise for our souls! Matthew 4 quotes Isaiah 9 saying, "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light, on those living in the shadow of death a light has dawned." Isaiah goes on to say, "God will break the chains that bind his people…For unto us a child is born."
